The unit includes Carole Fredericks’ twelve-song power packed Couleurs et parfums CD plus the instructional booklet that provides Fredericks’ biography, original lyrics, lessons and Corrigé. Beaver explores every aspect of the artist and her music in the individual song exercises and activities. He targets trickier terms in the exercise ‘étude de vocabulaire’ and prompts students apply the song’s vocabulary in other contexts in ‘exercises de vocabulaire’. Beaver introduces “interprétations” (often more than one) to help students explore each song’s meaning and to encourage discussion about their ideas. He includes ‘projects et presentations” designed to develop students’ curiosity and appreciation for the richness of the French language. Lastly on pages 48 and 49, Beaver encourages students to study (Projets d’étude et presentations), research (Projets de recherché et présentations) and to write a song or poem of their own (Soyons créatifs).
